Robot-assisted surgery
We have achieved accreditation from the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) as a Center of Excellence in Robot-Assisted Surgery, meaning we've met nationally and internationally recognized standards for delivering quality care and safety.
Some of the most exciting advances in medicine involve the use of robot-assisted surgery. In these minimally invasive procedures, the surgeon sits at a computer station showing him or her enlarged, 3D images of the area being operated on while using a robotic surgery system to perform the procedure.
It's important to note that the surgeon is in full control at all times. The robotic arms completely mimic your surgeon's movements, but the technology provides better dexterity and more precision than what can be achieved with the human hand on its own.
Robot-assisted surgeries we offer
Our robot-assisted surgery is available for a wide range of conditions and surgical specialties, including:
- Abdominal surgery, including gallbladder removal
- Bariatric surgery, such as laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy and Roux-en-Y gastric bypass
- Colorectal surgery
- Gynecological surgery, including hysterectomy, myomectomy and endometrial resection
- Neck surgery, such as tumor removal
- Urology surgery, including prostatectomy
Procedures that are not performed robotically may still qualify for a laparoscopic technique, another minimally invasive procedure.
Single-site surgery
Depending on your circumstances, many robot-assisted surgeries can be done using a single incision. Also known as single-site surgery, having a procedure done through a single small incision often means shorter recovery time. Each surgery is different, but many hysterectomies and gastrointestinal (GI) procedures can be performed as single-site surgery.
Register for your upcoming procedure
You can register before the day of surgery and get your preadmission work completed in one area. This includes lab work and any other medical testing. You can also speak to an anesthesiologist and other specialists to ask questions about your procedure.
