Adjustable gastric band surgery has been available in the Coastal Bend for some time, but now gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy surgeries for weight loss are also being performed at Bay Area Hospital.

This is primarily because it typically helps patients lose 85-100% of their excess weight, as well as maintain the weight loss for years following the surgery. Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy is a newer weight-loss procedure that shows promising early results for patients.
